Hi, I'm Sarah
Former project manager. Mom of two. Organization enthusiast who doesn't believe you need a perfect home to feel at peace.
How Refresh Routine Started
A few years ago, after my second child was born, I hit a wall. My house was drowning in clutter — overflowing closets, kitchen drawers that wouldn't shut, a garage I couldn't park in. Every room felt like it was working against me instead of for me.
One Saturday afternoon, while both kids napped (a miracle), I spent 45 minutes decluttering a single bathroom drawer. When I finished, I stood there staring at it and felt something I hadn't felt in months: calm.
That drawer changed everything.
I started applying the same principles I used in project management — breaking big problems into small steps, creating repeatable systems, and tracking progress — to every room in my house. Within six months, our home felt completely different. Not perfect. Not Instagram-worthy. But functional. Peaceful. Ours.
What I Believe
Your home should work for your life, not the other way around.
I started Refresh Routine because most organization advice falls into two camps: either impossibly minimalist ("own only 33 items and live in a white box") or frustratingly vague ("just declutter!"). Neither helped me, and I suspected neither was helping you.
What I share here is what actually works — simple systems that busy families can maintain without spending every weekend reorganizing. I've tested the popular methods (KonMari, FlyLady, minimalism, the 5S method from my project management days) and pulled the best pieces from each into what I call practical, judgment-free organization.

A Few Things About Me
- I spent 8 years in project management before starting this blog
- I have two kids (7 and 4) who are very talented at undoing my organization
- My junk drawer still exists — I've just learned to keep it to one drawer instead of five
- I believe done is better than perfect, and 15 minutes of decluttering beats zero
- Coffee is a non-negotiable part of my morning cleaning routine
